This qualification aims to provide students with the foundational skills necessary to succeed in the field of Journalism.
Those who aspire to be journalists will develop proficiency in generating and presenting content ideas, conducting thorough research for journalistic endeavors, and producing engaging content for different media platforms.

OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of the Journalist Training Program, participants will have the ability to:
Create and Present Captivating Content Concepts (NQF Level 5):
- Create inventive content concepts suited for various media channels.
- Construct compelling presentations to captivate target audiences and media channels.
- Enhance awareness of audience preferences and evolving trends.
Gather and Analyze Data for Journalism Purposes (NQF Level 5):
- Utilize meticulous research methods to collect precise and pertinent data.
- Employ critical evaluation to determine the reliability and importance of gathered information.
- Source information ethically and uphold journalistic ethics.
Generate and Disseminate Adaptable Content (NQF Level 5):
- Create captivating content for a variety of journalistic needs, such as news, features, and editorials.
- Customize content for different mediums, including written pieces, videos, podcasts, etc.
- Leverage multimedia resources to amplify the storytelling impact.

Semester 1

Semester 2

– Enhancing workplace-relevant personal skills
Workplace Experience Learning:
– Shadowing and supporting a seasoned journalist in various journalistic tasks
– Collaborating as a junior team member to create content
– Engaging with news production team to develop publishable content
– Producing and publishing self-generated content after approval
Admission Requirements:
– National senior Certificate endorsement for admission
– Completion of an education program equal to NQF Level 4
